Published September 16th, 2016 – It was on this day almost 150 years ago it was Young Tom Morris who recorded the first ever hole in one on the 8th hole at Prestwick Golf Club, Scotland.  The scorecard which is marked with the ace is on display in Prestwick’s Clubhouse.  The Young Tom Morris ace happened on the 166-yard, par-3, eighth hole — the “Station Hole” — on Prestwick’s original 12-hole course in the first round of the Open Championship, played on Sept. 16, 1869.  The scorecard next to it of course  is when the young golf pioneer became the first to receive the claret jug and won his fourth consecutive Open Championship. A record that will almost certainly will never be broken.
