Fred Couples had hot hands in the off season...

Fred Couples birdied the second extra hole to beat Loren Roberts and Vijay Singh in a three-way playoff yesterday in the Johnnie Walker Championship in Montego Bay, Jamaica. Couples, who collected $550,000, started the final round with a one-stroke lead and opened with a birdie. But by the ninth hole, he had lost the lead to Roberts.   Couples finally found his game on the par-five 17th, where he sank a 20-foot eagle. He then birdied the final regulation hole to reach five-under-par 279, tying Roberts, who carded a 69, and Singh, who closed with a 70.

The Johnnie Walker World Golf Championship

The Johnnie Walker World Golf Championship was a golf event held at the Tryall Golf Club in Jamaica from 1991 to 1995.  The tournament was intended to be an official World Championship event to rival the four majors but was terminated after just five stagings.
