Palmer gets his 48th PGA Tour win at Houston

On this day, In 1966 Arnold Palmer wins the Houston Champions International held in Texas.  The event was played at the Champions Golf Club, the club was founded in 1957 by Jack Burke, Jr. and Jimmy Demaret.  Palmer won the 21,000 dollars first prize by sinking a 12-foot birdie putt on the final hole to overtake Gardner Dickinson. The championship raised Arnold’s 1966 earnings to 110,467 dollars.   This was Palmer’s third win of 1966 which was a nice limelight to what 1958-1964 brought him. Where he won 29 PGA Tour events, including five major tournament victories, in four seasons.
