Jimmy Demaret, fresh off his 3rd green jacket…continues his winning ways

Jimmy Demaret finished a junior golf grand slam today in Grand Slam King Bobby Jones’ home state by winning the $10,000 Atlanta Open with 270 strokes.

Demaret shot a final round of 68 at the 6,762, Par 71 North Fulton Park Golf Course.  He had to hold off a charging Sam Snead and Jim Ferrier.  This of course came a week after the 1950 Masters tournament where Demaret received his THIRD green jacket.

A comeback win

The win wasn’t easy for Demaret, who was tied for eighth place after the first round.  He had pulled within a tie with Johnny Palmer after the second round.  His third round set a new course record at North Fulton where he shot a 64, which put him into the lead by three strokes.
