Happy Birthday Mickey Wright!

Mary Kathryn “Mickey” Wright was an LPGA Tour professional golfer coached by Harvey Penick. She became a member of the tour in 1955 and won thirteen major championships and 82 LPGA Tour career events. Wright accomplished the career Grand Slam by the age of 27 and is considered one of the greatest female golfers of all-time.  She was inducted into World Golf Hall of Fame in 1964 for her efforts.

Ben Hogan once said of Wright that she had the best swing of any man or woman.  Thats smooth as silk…

“If she didn’t hit the ball in the center of the clubface every time, she thought something was wrong,” said Louise Suggs, her friend and rival.

USGA Museum: A Gallery in her honor

In 2012 Wright was the fourth player and first woman to have a gallery honor her name at the United States Golf Association Museum.  She joining the golf icons Ben Hogan, Bobby Jones and Arnold Palmer who all have their own respective galleries.
